We will have a full day of classes during the last week of school with. the exception of Friday, June 18 which will be a half day. Dismissal at 10:15 a.m.
June 8 is deadline to transfer into online learning for next year
Are you ready (maybe more than ready) for your child to start the new school year in full-time face-to-face classes? Us too!
If you think online only-learning is the better fit for your child and family, then we can help you with that too, but you need to act soon!
To be in online learning next year, students must transfer to the new Dearborn Public Schools Virtual K-12 School launching in the fall. Parents need to complete the transfer paperwork by June 8. You can start the transfer process by contacting the school secretary. The secretary will send a link to a Google Form for a parent to sign agreeing to transferring their child. Please submit that agreement by June 8.
Not sure if Virtual K-12 is the right choice?
Students in Virtual K-12 will be taught live all-day, every day by Dearborn Public School teachers in a virtual classroom with other online-only students. Classes will follow Dearborn Public Schools curriculum, class times and calendar. Students who transfer to the Virtual K-12 School are committing to the program for the entire school year.
Dearborn Magnet will hold its annual senior graduation on June 9 at 6:00 p.m. Graduating seniors will need to arrive at 5:00 for Covid-19 testing.
Fall enrollment open for new Virtual K-12 School
Dearborn Schools plans to reopen for the new school year with face-to-face learning all day every day for our students.
For parents and students who want to continue learning online only, the district is launching the new Dearborn Public Schools Virtual K-12.
Virtual K-12 students will be taught live all-day, every day by Dearborn Public School teachers in a virtual classroom with other online-only students. Classes will follow Dearborn Public Schools curriculum, class times and calendar. The program is open to kindergarten through 12th grade students living in the Dearborn Public Schools district. Students who transfer to or enroll in the Virtual K-12 School are committing to the program for the entire school year.
Parents need to register students for the new school by June 8, 2021 by contacting the school office.
Please visit the Virtual K-12 School website to learn more.
Please see the attached information on testing week April 13-15.
Magnet is using this Parent Survey as a means to elicit your beliefs and opinions to help target areas for the school system to improve and areas to continue to be effective. Your opinion is important to us, and we ask that you take the time to complete this form. The online survey will be available from March 15-March 26 . In order to complete the survey, please click on this link: https://forms.gle/whQTYFprcm8CBxMb9
Please be assured that your responses to this survey will be anonymous and your honest opinions are appreciated. If you have any questions about this survey, please contact your school principal. Thank you in advance for supporting our improvement efforts.
Your cooperation and support in completing the parent survey will be greatly appreciated.
Please see the attached flier for information about screening your child for Covid-19.
Let’s face it, as great as Dearborn Public School parents are, for the most part, they were not spending
their days in the classrooms at our schools before last year.
But then COVD-19 dumped those classrooms into your house and now everyone is navigating this new
method of delivering education. To help parents and students with online learning, we have compiled
some etiquette tips for parents. We know that most families follow good protocols, but hopefully this
will help if some clarification is needed. We thank you in advance for that cooperation.
Please make sure students are prepared and participating. Ensure supplies and materials are ready,
and computers are charged or plugged in. Please make sure students log in on time. If you want your
child to get the most out of class, insist they turn on their camera even if the teacher does not require it.
Remember teachers are there to teach your child. Teachers are managing their class and providing
instruction directed to your child. Please do not interrupt class with your questions or concerns. Those
are best emailed to the teacher.
Be respectful. Teachers have had a difficult year too, and are working hard to make the best of a
situation they never expected to be in. Be patient and courteous. If you have concerns, please politely
bring those to the teacher outside of class time through email. Inappropriate language and demeaning or
aggressive behavior are not permitted.
Don’t hover. Allow your child to interact with the teacher and do their own homework and
assessments. We always encourage parents to be involved and support their children in their learning,
but to learn and develop independence, each child needs to be engaged and doing his or her own work.
(Obviously our youngest students probably need more help from the adults at home.)
Watch the background. Be aware that, depending on how your child’s camera and microphone are set
up, the behavior of you and others could be transmitted to the entire class. Be mindful of how you are
dressed, the language being used, and other such matters.
Technology issues. Issues with technology will happen from time to time for a variety of reasons.
Please be patient when issues occur. For technical questions about your Chromebook, Schoology or
Zoom, please contact our parent and student tech support at email@example.com or 313-
Thank you for all your help! Together, we will make the best of this difficult year.

Dearborn Public Schools is now using Schoology, an integrated learning management solution that provides course management, mobile learning, and support for system-wide communication. Schoology enables our students, parents, and teachers to engage with learning materials and their school community from the classroom and beyond.
With Schoology, students can digitally submit homework assignments, review grades, participate in interactive discussions, receive announcements and feedback, take tests, write academic blogs, and more. As a parent, you will be able to view your child’s activity within the platform.
Parents will be able to see the work that is being assigned to their children. Schoology will also be used to communicate important information from the School. Schoology can be used on the web or via the Schoology App for iOS or Android.
Grades will still be available in ParentConnect through MiStar.
You will be receiving an email with your login information. These emails will be sent to parent email addresses on file via the Emergency Information Forms.
Schoology also has a Parent Guide available to support you and your questions. One of the most important topics is Parent Notifications. You can choose how and how often you are notified by Schoology. You may also find the Parent Overview Video useful.
Director, Technology & Media Services
Students and Parents will be using Schoology as the place to start. Students can log in being Monday morning. (Parent accounts will be coming soon). Students should log in using their Google Accounts. Students who have borrowed a Chromebook from the district should have two tabs load upon sign-in: the district student portal web page and their Schoology page.
Within Schoology, students should find the links and instructions that they need. Links to Zoom meetings will be added by teachers.
